Holders can select the gender neutral "X" as a marker or leave the gender designation blank. The third-generation consular ID cards use state-of-the-art technology, and include new security measures and additional information to increase their acceptance.
Beginning on Monday, July 25, third-generation consular ID cards will be issued at the Mexican consulates in Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Miami.
